The club's history can be traced back to 1995, when it emerged as one of the resilient A-League clubs following the dissolution of the National Soccer League (NSL). Making a noteworthy debut in October 1996 for the 1996–97 season, Perth Glory quickly made its mark in Australian soccer, clinching three league Premierships and two Championships in a span of five seasons under the guidance of influential managers like Bernd Stange and Mich d'Avray. Since joining the A-League in 2004 as one of the founding teams, Perth Glory has continued its success trajectory, boasting another Premiership win and reaching multiple grand finals led by notable managers such as Tony Popovic and Ian Ferguson. In addition, the club has made notable appearances in prestigious competitions like the AFC Champions League, as well as achieving success in domestic cup tournaments. Home matches for Perth Glory are held at HBF Park, formerly known as Perth Oval, a 20,500-seater stadium located in the heart of Perth on Lord Street. The club has built a strong fan base, with its primary supporters' group called the "Glory Shed Supporters Club", paying homage to the terrace called "The Shed" at their home stadium. Notable rivalries exist between Perth Glory and teams like Wellington Phoenix, Gold Coast United, and the Melbourne Knights. Bobby Despotovski stands as the club's leading goalscorer, having scored an impressive 129 goals across all competitions, while Jamie Harnwell holds the record for the most appearances made for the Glory, amassing a total of 256 matches.
